Gene expression profiling with SmartChip MyDesign or Pre-Defined SmartChip Panels can be accomplished on the SmartChip Real-Time PCR System with both SYBR Green and probe-based chemistries. Highly reproducible results are obtained within sample replicates, across multiple chips and between multiple systems. Strong linear correlation for dilution series are also seen with typical R2 >0.99. The 100nl well size of the SmartChips ensures superior performance over other platforms using reaction sizes of less than 50 nl. No preamplification is needed for most SmartChip applications while the Poisson limit for other nanoscale systems indicates preamplification as a requirement to have sufficient transcripts present for detection.
